Eurobike Invites Entries for 2019 Awards

Friedrichshafen, Germany – Leading European bicycle trade show, Eurobike has invited bicycle and mobility companies, designers and developers are invited to enter their latest product innovations for the Eurobike Award 2019. In addition, the Eurobike Award concept, with a twelve-person expert panel of judges, has been adapted to address the latest bike market trends.

2019 Changes
E-Bikes are continuing to conquer in the bike market at high speed. According to the latest figures from the German Bike Industry Association (ZIV), nearly one in four bicycles sold in Germany in 2018 was an e-bike – and a further increase is expected. For the Eurobike Awards, e-bike technology has long been part of all bike categories – from kids’ bikes, city bikes, trekking bikes and cargo bikes to sporty mountain bikes and road bikes. However, As a result of e-bikes ever-growing importance, the Eurobike Award will no longer be placing e-bikes in a separate individual category. Instead, e-bikes will be grouped together with their corresponding non-motorised counterparts.
As a further new change to the Eurobike Award, this year for the first time there will be a separate category for micromobility products and solutions – a product segment only loosely related to the classic definition of cycling.

Micromobility
“There are plenty of controversial debates in the bike industry at present, for example, whether e-scooters are a curse or a blessing. Irrespective of this discussion, micromobility is a trend that might be rolling on small wheels, but is rapidly gaining momentum. As a leading trade fair platform for the bike industry, we strongly believe that it would be better for all market players to be actively involved in shaping this trend, rather just than watching from the sidelines. This is why we also want to give this topic more room at the Eurobike Award,” explains Dirk Heidrich, Project Manager Messe Friedrichshafen.

With immediate effect, companies in the bicycle and mobility sector can enter their latest products for the Eurobike Award www.eurobike-award.com. Here you will also find further information about the evaluation criteria and special awards, such as the Green Award, Start-Up Award and Gold Award. Participation in the Eurobike Award is equally open to exhibitors, non-exhibitors and start-ups.

The closing date for Eurobike Award registration is July 10, 2019. From all the entries, the expert panel selects the Eurobike Award winners during a two-stage process, including a digital pre-selection round and a final judges’ panel meeting over a number of days. These are then traditionally announced on the first evening of the show during a prize-giving ceremony. In addition, all award winners will be on display at Eurobike in a special exhibition in Messe Friedrichshafen Foyer East during the show and throughout the year in an online award gallery. All Start-Up finalists have an additional opportunity to pitch their product on the Eurobike Stage.
