New Majority Owner for Messingschlager

With retroactive effect from January 1, 2021, the Hama group of companies from Monheim took over the majority stake in Messingschlager GmbH & Co. KG (Baunach). This is intended to set the course for future growth at this bicycle accessories importer.

“This is the best step in order to take our company further and to position it properly for the next few years. With Hama as a partner, there are many synergy effects and financial opportunities open up to take advantage of the opportunities created by Corona and E-Mobility. We are thus laying the foundation for sustainable growth, securing jobs in the region and strengthening our position as a reliable partner for our customers and suppliers ”, says Benno Messingschlager, former owner of the Messingschlager GmbH & Co. KG.

The list of shareholders compliments the Messingschlager family as minority shareholders with Toni Messingschlager, the previous managing director Dennis Schömburg and Benno Messingschlager completes the management of the Messingschlager GmbH & Co. KG.

The bicycle sector is new territory for the Hama Group, but the business model is very similar to that of Messingschlager. Hama is an international supplier of accessories in the consumer electronics sector. "We are happy to welcome 150 new colleagues to the Hama family", says Christoph Thomas, Hama Managing Director.

Founded in 1923, today HAMA is one of the leading accessory suppliers for the consumer electronics sector with around 18,000 products. 1,500 people work at the German headquarters in Monheim, Bavaria, and Hama employs around 2,500 people worldwide. With 19 foreign locations, numerous commercial agencies and its own production facilities, Hama is present with its quality products around the world.

In addition, Benno Messingschlager explains: “We have found an ideal partner in Hama. A family company that shares our values, values employees as people and thinks in the same entrepreneurial direction as we do - especially with regard to progress, innovation and partnership.
