Sea Otter Classes Announces New Sponsorship

The Sea Otter Classic, a bicycling festival, and exposition that has been held yearly since 1991, recently announced it was acquired by Life Time. A health club based in the USA and Canada, Life Time Fitness is one of the premier healthy lifestyle brand owners and producers of multiple athletic events across the United States. This new change brings the Sea Otter Classic renewed success and growth.

Although the Sea Otter Classic will now be under new sponsorship, Frank Yohannan, CEO of the event, states that the leadership team will “remain unchanged.” Furthermore, all of the department directors, including Yohannan will remain. Yohannan states the "unchanging support" of the fans and athletes is what has allowed the growth and success of the Sea Otter Classic to prosper over the past 31 years.

Located on the Pacific coast in Monterey, California, the event has been held annually for the past 31 years. However, in 2020, the race was canceled due to health concerns amid the worldwide Coronavirus epidemic. The event brings in an estimate of 10,000 amateur and pro athletes along with 70,000 fans there to cheer the cyclist along. It is undoubtedly considered to be one of the world’s largest cycling festivals.

In 2017, the Sea Otter Europe debuted in Girona Costa Brava. A coastal city in Northeast Spain, bordering France. The European event will take place in September 2021 from the 24-26th. As for the Californian race, the festival will be held from Thursday, October 7th to Sunday the 10th. Activities include bicycles demos, food courts and beer gardens, and kids' bike racing. Passes range from $15-50 USD. Also, children under the age of 12 have free admission throughout the event. Additional information concerning the Sea Otter Classic can be found on
