Kenda Tire launches new bicycle tire test track

North Canton, OH, November 6, 2017 – Kenda Tire recently hosted a group of editors from the top cycling publications in the United States for an open house showcasing the latest in tire development technology and the launch of a bicycle tire specific test track. Editors were on hand for presentations from the VP of Engineering Tom Williams, Kenda’s Senior Bicycle Engineer Jay Drunasky, as well as compounding specialist Caitlyn Holiday and FEA engineer Jordan Abood.

“Kenda tire is investing heavily in people and facilities to insure the development of new products that provide the highest levels of performance.,” said VP of Engineering, Williams.

After the morning’s presentations, editors were joined by Kenda sponsored professional rider Eric Porter to get a firsthand look and ride on the recently finished Kenda Off Road Test Track (KORTT). With a 12-foot drop in to the track, editors were able to ride paved and off road lines of varying difficulty, with a variety of course features that allow Kenda’s engineers to test performance characteristics like grip, cornering traction, impact results and sand or gravel traction.

Williams continued to add “the addition of the new bicycle test track provides us with the ability to test our new products on a consistent, repeatable surface. This consistency allows our engineers to insure that our customers will have products that live up to their expectations, now and in the future.”

“Kenda sees the development of this track as a valuable addition to the current testing protocol of laboratory machines and professional athletes it currently employs,” said Senior Director of Bicycle Alan Clark. “We are eagerly looking forward to this next generation of Kenda products.”
