Neco, the headset and bottom bracket specialists, have recently been branching out into hubs and motors, as well as making pedals and cable routing headsets. The Taichung-based company, which has been in operation since 1986, can also offer cold forging, steel pressing, hole taping, and CNC finishing, among more.
Neco’s motors are made in their Chinese factories. Asked why, Neco said, “Maybe in the future we’ll bring production of motors to Taiwan, but it costs more here, and European and USA customers expect cheaper prices.” They also added that they sell both their mid and rear hub motors “equally well” to OEMs, with no product falling behind in particular.

Their recent focus has been to promote their improved cable routing, having worked in collaboration with Zoom handlebars, for example. Cable connection and connectivity have been a main focus for the company.
Neco told us that improvements include an improved inner ring surface that has been added to the inner wall of the head tube, creating an inner ring space. When the cables pass through this space within the headset, the isolation section acts as a protective barrier, preventing direct contact between the cables and the bearing’s inner race. This design effectively reduces cable abrasion caused by friction and ensures smooth bearing operation, thereby improving the headset’s durability and reliability.
Locking Headset Reveal
Neco revealed at TBW 2025 their new locking headset. A spring-operated headset ring sold by itself is planned on being sold to the aftermarket in the near future, having built on previous designs and upgrading them accordingly.
When parking, the locking headset will prevent the bicycle from tipping over due to handlebar rotation. The fixed angles are determined by the milled notches on the headset. Currently, the positions are set at 45°, 0°, and -45°, but different angles can be customized upon request.
