Bosch eBike Systems has announced an expansion of its digital theft protection portfolio, aiming to make stolen eBikes harder to resell and easier to recover. The latest feature will be officially unveiled at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
According to the Bike Index 2025 Annual Theft Report, more than two million bicycles are stolen each year in the United States alone, making theft a major barrier to eBike adoption. Bosch addresses this challenge by introducing a new feature within the eBike Flow app that allows riders to mark their eBikes or batteries as stolen.
Once marked, the eBike and its components become permanently identifiable across the entire Bosch eBike Systems digital ecosystem. Used-bike buyers, specialist dealers, and public authorities receive an instant warning when attempting to connect the eBike via the eBike Flow app, including the serial numbers of components reported as stolen.

To further deter theft, the connection to the eBike Flow app is permanently blocked for unauthorized users. This prevents stolen eBikes from receiving over-the-air updates or accessing custom riding modes. Specialist dealers are also alerted through Bosch’s Diagnostic Tool when a stolen eBike is connected for servicing.
The new feature builds on Bosch’s existing theft protection solutions—eBike Lock, eBike Alarm, and Battery Lock—introduced since 2018. Together, these technologies form a multi-layered digital security system aimed at reducing the attractiveness of eBike theft.
The stolen-status function will be available free of charge in the eBike Flow app from the end of January 2026, adding another level of protection for both private users and the wider eBike market.
