Yamaha Motor eBike Systems has introduced a major over-the-air (OTA) update capability for its QORE eBike System, allowing riders to upgrade their e-bikes remotely from home while receiving a significant boost in motor performance at no additional cost.
The new functionality is available through the QORE App, which already enables riders to customize, monitor, and control various system settings. With OTA updates now integrated, users can install software upgrades directly via smartphone, eliminating the need for dealer visits and associated service expenses.
Power Upgrade for QORE Drive Units
The first OTA update delivers notable performance improvements to both QORE drive systems.
The flagship Drive³ Peak motor now offers a peak output of 800 watts, up from 600 watts, while maximum torque increases from 95Nm to 105Nm. Rider assistance remains unchanged at up to 600%.
Meanwhile, the Drive³ Power motor receives an increase from 500 watts to 700 watts of peak power, with torque rising from 80Nm to 90Nm. Maximum rider assistance continues at up to 410%.
The update is available free of charge for all owners of 2026-model-year Waldbike and Campus e-bikes equipped with the QORE system. New bikes produced after June 1, 2026, will be delivered with the enhanced specifications already installed.
Enhancing User Experience Through Software
According to Yamaha Motor eBike Systems, OTA technology represents a significant step toward a more user-friendly and future-proof e-bike platform.
“Over-the-air updates make the QORE system significantly easier to use,” said Lionel Sternberg, Product Manager for Software Architecture at Yamaha Motor eBike Systems GmbH. “We can now provide new features, security updates, and bug fixes directly through the app. This extends product lifespan, improves reliability, and enables us to respond more quickly to the needs of e-bike riders.”
The company also emphasized that remote updates will reduce the need for service visits, helping users save both time and maintenance costs over the long term.
Yamaha Strengthens Its European eBike Strategy
The development follows Yamaha Motor Corporation’s acquisition of the e-bike division of German automotive supplier Brose in August 2025. The business was subsequently reorganized as Yamaha Motor eBike Systems GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, with the objective of expanding Yamaha’s presence in the European e-bike market.
Introduced at Eurobike 2025, the QORE eBike System serves as Yamaha’s latest drive platform and is currently featured on 2026-model-year e-bikes from Waldbike and Campus. The system is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing integration of up to four third-party components in addition to its core drive, battery, and display units.
Key features include the Drive³ Peak and Drive³ Power motors, an 800Wh battery, and the QORE App with OTA update functionality.
Looking ahead, Yamaha plans to further expand the QORE ecosystem in the first half of 2027 with the introduction of the Display Control Integrate, an integrated top-tube display solution, together with a dedicated remote control unit.
As software increasingly becomes a differentiating factor in the e-bike industry, Yamaha’s OTA update strategy highlights a growing trend toward connected, upgradeable e-bike platforms that continue to evolve long after purchase.
