Canyon Introduces PREDICT Active Safety Ecosystem

German cycling innovator Canyon Bicycles has introduced a suite of active safety technologies. Moving beyond passive crash protection, Canyon aims to turn bikes and gear into proactive, digital co-pilots that anticipate hazards in real time.

1. Canyon Roadlite:ON V2X: Car-to-Bike Communication

The Roadlite:ON V2X is a production-ready urban e-bike integrating automotive-grade Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication. Operating via direct, low-latency wireless radio signals, it "sees" around blind corners and through buildings without requiring visual contact.

Rider & Driver Alerts: If a car approaches a blind intersection, the rider receives directional haptic vibrations through the handlebar grips. Concurrently, the bike flashes an immediate alert on the approaching vehicle's dashboard screen.

Smart Infrastructure: The bike communicates with smart city infrastructure to enable features like cyclist-specific "green waves" at traffic lights.

2. Canyon PREDICT System: The Edge AI "Digital Brain"

For high-performance road riding, the Canyon PREDICT concept bike features a "Cognitive Core" processing unit. Relying entirely on Edge AI (on-device processing), it calculates threats instantly with zero latency and no internet dependency.

360° Awareness: Fusing data from 360° cameras, four radar units, and motion sensors in the DT Swiss wheel hubs, the system tracks traffic, group-ride dynamics, and road friction.

Active Mechanical Intervention: When critical danger is detected, the system can automatically lower the dropper seatpost, dropping the rider's center of gravity to maximize stability and control before an evasive maneuver.

3. Canyon Stingr Smart: The Ultimate HUD Helmet

Built on Canyon’s aero road helmet architecture, the Stingr Smart prototype acts as the rider's visual anchor.

AR Visor & HUD: It features a motorized, retractable visor with a transparent OLED Heads-Up Display. Safety and performance data are projected into the peripheral vision to minimize distraction, escalating to the center only during critical threats.

Hands-Free Audio: Equipped with a near-ear audio system and microphone, riders can use voice commands to control helmet features or receive spatial audio hazard alerts without taking their hands off the bars.
