On May 18, Pacific Cycles held a groundbreaking ceremony for its third factory in Taiwan. With its exceptional design integration capabilities and one-stop production process, Pacific Cycles has become a global hub for new product design and development, renowned for its international designer studios. Michael Lin, who took over as Chairman in 2022, is leading the company into a new era, emphasizing sustainable development and corporate longevity.

The new factory will be built on the original site of the first factory, known as the birthplace of Pacific Cycles. The two-phase project will construct a new factory spanning over 16,500 square meters, featuring "smart production," "circular sustainability," and an "eco-friendly environment" to transform and upgrade the company for future market challenges. The total cost for the first phase is estimated at NT$300 million, with the main building expected to be completed by 2025. Pacific Cycles has already made production adjustments to ensure that customer orders are not affected by the construction and that newly planned products will be launched on schedule.

Michael Lin stated that the new factory will embody green energy and eco-friendly principles, providing a more comfortable working environment for employees. In 2023, Pacific Cycles completed a greenhouse gas inventory and verification and began promoting a new carbon-reduction business model for bicycles. Starting in July, the company will exclusively use green aluminum and environmentally friendly aluminum as primary production materials, in response to carbon tax and sustainability goals. Additionally, Pacific Cycles is actively developing a series of apps to encourage consumers and cyclists to reduce carbon emissions, with the aim of effectively utilizing the carbon savings from cycling in the future.

Founder Lin Cheng-Yi remarked that building the new factory marks a new milestone. Facing new challenges, he hopes the construction of the new facility will inject more energy and momentum into Pacific Cycles, enabling the company to continuously design exciting and practical products that remain innovative and sustainable for a century.
