ECI Advocates for Integrating Company Bike Leasing into EU Carbon Regulations

European Cycling Industries (ECI) and the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) are actively pushing to include "Company Bike Leasing" (CBL) in the EU's transport policies and carbon reduction frameworks. The initiative aims to replicate Germany's highly successful leasing model across all EU member states to accelerate green mobility.

Key Highlights:

 * Tax Incentives for Employees: By implementing "salary sacrifice" mechanisms and low Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax rates, the cost of acquiring high-end e-bikes and cargo bikes can be reduced by up to 30-40% for employees.

 * Achieving Corporate ESG Goals: The associations are lobbying to include bicycles in the Clean Corporate Vehicles Regulation. This allows companies to officially count e-bike fleets toward their carbon reduction targets and lower Scope 3 emissions from employee commutes.

 * Driving Industry Growth: For the global supply chain, this transition turns bike leasing into a powerful B2B2C engine. It not only creates stable, long-term demand for premium e-bikes but also promotes a circular economy through end-of-lease refurbishment.
