VSF, ZEG and BIKE&CO have launched the “Branchenmonitor Gehalt,” the first nationwide salary survey for the German bicycle retail sector. The survey is open to bicycle retailers in Germany and will run until October 31, 2026.
The survey covers salaries for management, workshop, sales, warehouse and logistics roles. It will compare pay levels based on factors including professional experience, personnel responsibility, company size, turnover, region, and whether a business is located in an urban or rural area.
Additional benefits such as company bicycle schemes (Dienstrad), occupational pensions and bonuses will also be included. The survey will compare salary data with purchasing power indices to assess whether higher salaries are associated with greater purchasing power or primarily offset higher living costs.
VSF said reliable salary data has so far been lacking in the bicycle retail sector. Participating businesses will receive a free detailed analysis that can be used to compare their own salary structures, support salary discussions and personnel cost planning, and assist with employee recruitment and retention.
The survey is anonymous. Submitted salary data will be stored without company or individual names, and figures will only be reported when individual businesses cannot be identified. VSF estimates that completing the survey will take around 10 to 40 minutes, depending on company size, number of employees, branches and job categories.
The survey will run until October 31, 2026, with VSF, ZEG and BIKE&CO planning to present the first results in November 2026.
