Panasonic E-Bike Systems announced that it has upgraded its GXM e-bike drive system through a software update. The GXM Magnesium motor now delivers up to 120 Nm of torque, while the GXM Aluminum version reaches 110 Nm.
The update goes beyond increasing torque output. Panasonic says the enhanced motor tuning provides greater control, more precise power delivery and a natural riding experience. The AUTO support mode has also been refined to adapt assistance to terrain and riding conditions.
Existing GXM motors already on the market can also receive the performance upgrade through a software update, with no hardware changes required. Panasonic's GXM product information states that the performance upgrade will be available from November 2026.
Jürgen Haumon, Senior Product Manager at Panasonic E-Bike Systems, said the upgrade demonstrates the potential of the GXM platform by providing greater support on steep climbs and demanding terrain while retaining its natural riding characteristics. He also highlighted that existing GXM users can benefit from the improvements through a software update.
The current Panasonic GXM range includes the GXM 120 Mg, GXM 110 and GXM 75. The GXM 120 Mg features a magnesium housing, weighs approximately 2.6 kg and delivers up to 120 Nm of torque, while the GXM 110 and GXM 75 use aluminum housings and deliver up to 110 Nm and 75 Nm, respectively.
