Lime Partners with BHN Extras to Offer E-Bike Subscription via Cycle to Work

Micromobility operator Lime has partnered with employee benefits platform BHN Extras to add Lime’s shared e-bikes to the Bike Rental offering on the UK’s Cyclescheme platform. Eligible employees can access an annual Lime subscription through salary sacrifice.

The Lime annual subscription costs £635 and includes 500 minutes of riding per month. After salary-sacrifice savings, the monthly cost is £38.10 for basic-rate taxpayers, £30.69 for higher-rate taxpayers and £28.05 for additional-rate taxpayers. Employers can save up to 15% on National Insurance costs.

BHN Extras says the 500-minute monthly allowance is equivalent to around 25 minutes of riding per weekday. Users requiring additional riding time can purchase additional plans through the Lime app.

The scheme is available in UK locations where Lime operates e-bikes, including London, Milton Keynes, Oxford, the West Midlands and Nottingham. Availability and plan terms vary by location.

Peter Dando, Senior Director of Employee Benefits & Recognition at BHN Extras, said the partnership provides an alternative for employees who do not want the costs and responsibilities associated with owning, storing and maintaining a bicycle.

Alice Pleasant, Lime’s UK Deputy Head of Region for Government Relations, said the partnership aims to lower the barriers to using shared e-bikes for everyday journeys, including commuting and connections with public transport.
