Singapore-based investment group Dutech has agreed to acquire the brand rights to Dutch bicycle brands Batavus, KOGA and Babboe from the bankrupt Accell Group. The agreement, announced by the administrators overseeing Accell’s bankruptcy on 9 October 2026, also covers Accell’s IT platform and its Hungarian manufacturing facility.
The transaction covers selected brand rights and related operating assets rather than the entire Accell Group. The financial terms have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear how many Accell employees will transfer to the new business.
According to the administrators, the agreement will allow the three brands to remain on the market and be further developed by Dutech. The IT platform will be transferred at a later stage, as it is still being used to handle the bankruptcy proceedings.
Dutech already owns German bicycle brands Kreidler and Prophete. RetailDetail also identifies Dutech as the owner of Dutch bicycle components manufacturer Enviolo.
Accell was declared bankrupt in August 2026. The company had placed large orders for components during the COVID-19 pandemic, when bicycle demand surged. As demand subsequently declined, Accell was left with substantial inventories of unsold bicycles. A major recall of Babboe cargo bikes also added to the company’s financial difficulties.
The sale of other parts of Accell’s business, including its spare parts division, remains ongoing. Details concerning existing product warranties and the future employment of Accell staff have yet to be clarified.
