Mexico has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of US$68.60 per unit on adult bicycles originating in China. The Ministry of Economy published its affirmative preliminary determination in Mexico’s Official Gazette, the Diario Oficial de la Federación (DOF), on 12 October 2026. The measure took effect on 13 October and will remain in force for six months.
The investigation covers adult bicycles of all types with wheel sizes exceeding 20 inches. These are commercially known as mountain bikes with or without gears, adult bicycles, mountain bikes, unassembled bicycles and urban bicycles. Racing and road bicycles, as well as electric bicycles, are excluded from the investigation.
The measure applies to products originating in China, regardless of the country of shipment. It covers definitive and temporary imports under tariff item 8712.00.05 of Mexico’s Tarifa de la Ley de los Impuestos Generales de Importación y de Exportación (TIGIE), as well as products entering under any other applicable tariff item, provided they fall within the scope of the investigation.
The investigation was initiated on 13 August 2025 following an application filed on 11 April 2025 by Mexico’s National Association of Bicycle Manufacturers (ANAFABI) and four companies: Bicicletas Mercurio, Bicicletas Veloci, Distribuidora de Bicicletas Benotto and Línea Siete.
The dumping investigation period covers 1 January to 31 December 2024, while the injury investigation period covers 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing, and a final determination has not yet been issued.
