TENWAYS announced on October 16, 2026, that it had reached an agreement to acquire the Dutch bicycle brand Sparta from bankrupt Accell Group.
According to TENWAYS, the transaction includes Sparta’s trademarks, related intellectual property and production documentation for selected models. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Founded in 1917, Sparta became part of Accell Group in 1999. TENWAYS was founded in China in 2021 and is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where it operates an electric bicycle business.
Amir Fazeli, General Manager of Tenways Technovation Europe B.V., described the acquisition as an important step for the company. He said TENWAYS would approach the deal with respect for Sparta’s heritage and seek to preserve the brand’s distinct identity.
Sparta was sold separately from other Accell assets. Singapore-based Dutech previously acquired the rights to the Batavus, KOGA and Babboe brands in a separate transaction that also included Accell’s IT platform and Hungarian operations.
As of October 19, TENWAYS had not publicly announced details regarding employee arrangements, future production locations or plans for Sparta’s existing models and product range.
