Gallop Electric (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a newly established company specializing in electric motorcycle drive systems, is making headlines with the launch of its advanced semi-solid-state battery solution, aimed at significantly improving the safety, durability, and environmental adaptability of electric mobility products.
The company is led by Sunny He (He Xianbing), co-founder of Bafang Electric (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., one of the world’s leading e-bike drive system manufacturers. With over two decades of experience in the electric two-wheeler industry, Sunny He has long been committed to advancing battery safety and system integration.
In September 2024, Sunny He led the acquisition of Bafang’s electric motorcycle division, where he had laid the groundwork for product and market development since 2021. He then formally spun off the division as an independent company, Gallop Electric, to focus exclusively on the electric motorcycle market. Gallop now fully owns and operates the T&D brand, originally incubated under Bafang.
“I’ve always believed in staying young at heart and challenging myself,” Sunny reflected. “Opportunities for entrepreneurship don’t come often. I’m fortunate to have caught this second wave.”
Over the past few years, Sunny’s team has worked closely with global motorcycle brands to co-develop solutions that address the high safety, long cycle life, and extreme temperature requirements of electric motorcycles—demands that conventional NCM lithium batteries struggle to meet. Through persistent R&D and collaboration with leading battery manufacturers, Gallop successfully finalized a semi-solid-state battery formula and implemented it in electric motorcycles in early 2023.
In 2024, the company began applying this mature solution to electric pedal-assist bicycles (EPACs), achieving double the battery life, enhanced performance in high and low temperatures, and greater overall safety. The batteries are designed for a 7-year service life and a 5-year warranty, setting a new industry benchmark.
As a brand, T&D has already built a strong technical foundation with five major product lines and full integration capabilities—covering motors, batteries, controllers, and system solutions. Under Gallop Electric, T&D is now positioning itself for the next wave of global growth in Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America, emphasizing localized innovation and differentiated strategies.
“With a strong technical base, global partnerships, and a stable, experienced team, Gallop is committed to delivering smarter, safer, and more enjoyable riding experiences for electric two-wheeler users worldwide,” said Sunny He.
