TM-B: Also’s Revolutionary Modular E-Bike

In 2025, while the global bicycle industry faced inventory cuts and supply chain restructuring, Rivian’s spin-off company Also Inc. is making waves with a bold vision: redefining the e-bike with software-driven innovation. Backed by a $1 billion valuation, Also aims to transform the way bicycles are designed, ridden, and upgraded.

Software-Defined Hardware and Experience

Unlike traditional bicycles, the TM-B is not just a frame, gears, and motor—it’s a digital platform. Its “DreamRide” pedal-by-wire system replaces chains with a generator-driven setup. Pedaling charges the battery, while the software-controlled motor delivers assistance—up to 10x power with 180 Nm torque—making climbing hills or carrying cargo effortless. Performance, torque curves, riding modes, and even anti-theft features can be updated over-the-air.

Riders can switch modes via the app or touchscreen: a smooth, energy-saving ride for commuting, or high-torque, stable performance for weekend cargo or off-road use. The software even simulates different terrain feel, putting control of the riding experience in the user’s hands.

Modular Design for Multiple Use Cases

TM-B’s modular top frame allows quick transformation in seconds: a single seat for commuting, a bench for passengers, or a cargo rack for deliveries (up to 35 kg). Tires, handlebars, and suspension are also customizable, with 120mm travel air suspension handling rough roads and trails.

Battery, Range, and Connectivity

The removable battery offers up to 160 km range, supports USB-C charging as a 240W power bank, and enables “limp mode” pedaling when the battery is depleted. Top speed is 45 km/h, with both pedal-assist and throttle modes. A 5-inch round color touchscreen displays navigation, ride stats, and media, and the bike supports smartphone unlock, remote alerts, and anti-theft protection.
