With the global bicycle industry still in a period of gradual recovery, Taichung Bike Week (TBW) will return on September 15–18, 2026, continuing its role as a key OEM and B2B platform where international brands, product managers and suppliers meet to discuss future products and sourcing programs.
While exhibitor registrations are currently below last year’s level, industry sentiment is showing signs of improvement, with many suppliers looking toward 2027 for a stronger market recovery and renewed orders.
260 Exhibitors Registered So Far
As of August 12, 260 companies had registered for TBW 2026, compared with approximately 321 exhibitors in 2025, representing a preliminary decline of around 19%. Registrations include 140 companies at The Splendor Hotel, 79 at Evergreen Laurel Hotel and 42 at Tempus Hotel. In 2025, the respective figures were 190, 90 and 41.
This means registrations are currently down by 61 companies year on year, with The Splendor recording 50 fewer exhibitors, Evergreen Laurel down by 11, while Tempus remains unchanged. With registration still ongoing, the final number could increase before the event opens.
The softer turnout also reflects a crowded European event calendar. The Italian Bike Festival takes place September 4–6, followed by TBW on September 15–18, while Sea Otter Europe runs September 18–20. The overlap, combined with continued travel-budget controls among international companies, is expected to limit the number of overseas buyers traveling to Taichung this year.
However, TBW’s value has traditionally been driven less by visitor volume than by the quality of its business meetings. Product managers and suppliers use the event to discuss specifications, component selection, prototypes and OEM programs often one to two years ahead of production.
Industry Looking Toward 2027
Pre-show feedback suggests that business sentiment is gradually improving. SR SUNTOUR reports stronger customer inquiries and meeting activity compared with last year, although traffic has yet to return to previous peak levels. KMC and other component suppliers also expect overseas attendance to remain relatively conservative.
After several years of inventory correction, suppliers increasingly view 2026 as a year of recovery and preparation, with stronger expectations for 2027. This makes TBW an important opportunity to strengthen existing customer relationships and secure positions in upcoming product programs.
E-Bike Integration and 32-Inch Platforms in Focus
E-Bike technology remains a major development focus. KMC will highlight drivetrain solutions designed for the higher torque and durability requirements of E-Bikes, while suppliers across the industry continue to advance integrated electronics, lightweight high-efficiency drive systems, transmissions and sensor technologies.
Another emerging topic is the 32-inch wheel platform, with new frames and dedicated wheelsets drawing interest for their potential advantages in rollover capability, stability and applications for taller riders and selected off-road segments.
TBA Launches Central Park Morning Ride
A new highlight this year will be the first TBA Central Park Morning Ride & Test Ride, organized by the Taiwan Bicycle Association from September 15–17, 5:00–7:00 a.m.
International product managers and industry professionals will be invited to ride around Taichung Central Park, near the newly completed Taichung International Convention & Exhibition Center, providing an opportunity to experience new components and technologies under real-world riding conditions.
TBA Chairman Robert Wu said the morning ride will allow buyers to experience product performance directly while creating a more interactive environment for communication between brands and suppliers.
The combination of indoor business meetings and outdoor product testing also points to new possibilities for the future development of TBW as the event continues to evolve alongside Taichung’s bicycle industry cluster and new exhibition infrastructure.
