ECI Launches SoTEC Sell-In Data Platform to Improve European Cycling Market Forecasting

European Cycling Industries (ECI), in partnership with sports data specialist Sporting Insights, has launched State of Trade European Cycling (SoTEC), a data platform designed to provide cycling brands with insights into the dynamics of the European market.

SoTEC aims to reduce the cycling industry’s historical reliance on estimates by providing quarterly updates of monthly sell-in data through a dedicated dashboard. The platform enables cycling businesses to align production, inventory, and forecasting in real time across specific bicycle categories.

According to ECI, all data processing and aggregation are carried out in strict compliance with EU competition laws. Data displayed on the platform is fully anonymised to protect commercial privacy.

Specialized, Trek, Pon.Bike, Giant, and Decathlon are among the industry leaders that have joined SoTEC as founding participants, establishing the platform as a data benchmark for the European market.

Pon.Bike said: “To plan ahead in today’s market, we need more than rough benchmarks. SoTEC offers us a consistent and reliable source of data, which allows us to make smarter, long-term strategic investments.”

Decathlon said: “By understanding market trends, we can better assess current customer needs and keep cycling accessible to everyone, everywhere.”

Companies interested in participating in the SoTEC data ecosystem ahead of the next quarterly reporting cycle can contact European Cycling Industries or Sporting Insights directly.
